Nieuwe mogelijkheid voor makers in creatieve hub

Binnenkort openen we een nieuwe creatieve hub in voormalig Kindcentrum Sterrenbosch aan de Hofstedenlaan. Het wordt een plek voor beeldende makers en podiumkunsten. In deze creatieve hub krijgen ongeveer 25 startende makers en recent afgestudeerden van St. Joost en Koningstheateracademie (onderdeel van Avans Creative Innovation) een atelier of studio. Daarnaast wordt er ook plaats gemaakt voor meer gevestigde makers en initiatieven. Juist om te zorgen voor een cross-over in ervaring en kennis. Daarnaast nodigen we ook ondersteunde bedrijven voor de creatieve sector uit deel te nemen. Naast werkruimte bieden we een inhoudelijk programma dat we samen, met de gebruikers van de creatieve hub, gaan ontwikkelen. Hiermee ondersteunen we de zakelijke kant van de beroepspraktijk van de deelnemers.

Samenwerking en kennisdeling

Om tot een succesvolle creatieve hub te komen, vormen alle deelnemers een gemeenschap die openstaat voor samenwerking en kennisdeling. Met elkaar maar ook met de omgeving en de stad 's-Hertogenbosch. Vanuit de creatieve hub worden initiatieven ontwikkeld met en/of voor de wijk. Ook biedt Avans Hogeschool er onderwijs voor studenten van zowel de (klein)kunstacademie als van de opleiding Business Innovation. Daarnaast is er een multifunctionele ruimte waar de gebruikers van het pand elkaar kunnen ontmoeten. En waar ruimte is voor exposities en voorstellingen.

Spreekt dit jou aan en wil je graag deelnemen? Meld je dan snel aan. We vragen je een motivatie te schrijven en een overzicht te geven van jouw werk. Een commissie maakt een selectie uit de geïnteresseerden om tot een geschikte community te komen, met een goede mix tussen startende en gevestigde makers/organisaties of instellingen. Voorwaarden en procedure

• Kosten zijn ongeveer €200,- per maand voor een plek in de hub, ongeacht het aantal vierkante meters. Dit wordt met elkaar vormgegeven.
• Werkruimtes (schoollokalen van 50-60m2) zullen gedeeld worden door verschillende makers. Wie waar kan werken wordt in gezamenlijkheid bepaald.
• De pandgenoten moeten zich verhouden tot elkaar en de buurt/omgeving.
• Avans is onderdeel van de hub met studenten en een onderzoekslab.
• Het betreft een tijdelijk pand. Daarom is er een opzegtermijn van één maand. Je werkpraktijk moet dus passen bij een tijdelijk pand (binnen één maand moet de boel leeg kunnen zijn). Maar voor de komende 3,5 jaar (tot januari 2027) zijn er geen nieuwe plannen voor het pand.
• De grote gymzaal van het schoolpand is geen onderdeel van de hub. Deze is namelijk nog in gebruik als sportruimte.
• Het pand staat midden in een woonwijk. Er wordt verwacht dat je een goede buur bent (m.b.t. geluid, opruimen en fietsen stallen e.d.).
• Vanwege de parkeersituatie is de wens dat je zoveel mogelijk met de fiets of het OV komt.
• Meld je vóór 1 oktober 2023 aan door jouw motivatie en overzicht van jouw werkpraktijk op te sturen (CV, portfolio of overzicht artistieke werkpraktijk).

Wie zoeken we?

1. Startende makers

• Je bent professioneel werkzaam op een of meerdere gebieden binnen of rakend aan de beeldende of podiumkunsten.
• Je staat aan de start van je professionele beroepspraktijk als kunstenaar/creatief maker.
• Je wilt graag deelnemen aan het inhoudelijke programma ± 1 dag per 2 maanden.
• Je woont in, je hebt je werkgebied in of hebt je kunstvakopleiding gevolgd in ’s-Hertogenbosch.
• Je bent graag onderdeel van een gemeenschap. Je deelt met en leert van andere makers en wil je verhouden tot de omgeving van de creatieve hub.
• Je wil de werkruimte veel gebruiken en regelmatig aanwezig zijn.
• Je kan binnen een maand de boel inpakken, dus geen steenovens e.d.

2. Andere makers en organisaties

• Je bent een professionele maker of (ondersteunende) organisatie werkzaam in de culturele sector.
• Je wil bijdragen aan de community in het algemeen, en specifiek aan de beroepspraktijk van startende makers. Denk bijv. aan artistiek/zakelijke kennis- en netwerkdeling.
• Je hebt een relevant netwerk in en/of buiten ’s-Hertogenbosch.
• Je bent een substantieel deel van de week aanwezig.
• Je kan binnen een maand de boel inpakken, dus geen steenovens e.d.

Soon we will open a new creative hub in on the Hofstedenlaan. lt will be a place for makers in visual and performing arts. In this creative hub about 25 starting makers (and recent graduates of St. Joost and Koningstheateracademie (part of Avans Creative lnnovation)) will get a studio. In addition, space will also be made for more established makers and initiatives. This to ensure a cross­over in experience and knowledge. We also invite supporting companies for the creative sector. In addition to workspace, we offer a substantive program that we will develop together, with the residents of the creative hub. With this we support the business side of the professional practice of the participants. 

Collaboration and sharing knowledge

To achieve a successful creative hub, all participants form a community open to collaboration and sharing knowledge. With each other but also with the environment and the city of ’s-Hertogenbosch. From the creative hub, initiatives are developed with and/or for the neighborhood. Avans Hogeschool also offers education for students of both the (small) art academy and the Business lnnovation program. There is also a multifunctional space where the users of the building can meet and for exhibitions and performances. 

Do you have interest and would you like to participate? Then apply quickly. We ask you to write a motivation and an overview of your work. A committee will make a selection from the interested parties to arrive at a suitable community, with a good mix of starting and established makers/organizations or institutions. Registration is open until Oct. 1. Terms and procedure

• The cost is about €200 per month for a place in the hub, regardless of square footage. This will be collaboratively structured.
• Workspaces (classrooms of 50-60m2) will be shared by different makers. Who can work where will be determined collectively.
• The members of this hub have to relate to each other and the neighborhood.
• Avans is part of the hub with students and a research lab.
• This is a temporary building.Therefore, there is a one-month notice period. So your working practice should fit a temporary building (within one month the place should be able to be empty). But for the next 3.5 years (until January 2027) the re are no new plans for the building.
• The large gym of the school building is not part of the hub. In fact, it is still in use as a gym for the school.
• The property is in the middle of a residential neighborhood. You are expected to be a good neighbor (with regard to noise, cleaning up and storing bikes, etc.).
• Due to the parking situation, the wish is that you come by bike or public transport as much as possible.

2. Other makers and organizations

• You are a professional maker or (supporting) organization working in the cultural sector.
• You want to contribute to the community in general, and specifically to the professional practice of emerging makers. Think for example of artistic/business knowledge and network sharing.
• You have a relevant network in and/or outside ’s-Hertogenbosch.
• You are present for a substantial part of the week.
• You can wrap things up within a month, so no brick ovens etc.
